Show the Content

Not unless otherwise noted.  There will be a break for lunch around noon and two 15-minute breaks; one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  You can walk to any local deli and restaurant (which are plentiful).

What is the typical participant dress at these classes?

Show the Content

Business casual, unless there is very bad weather, e.g. snow, and then you should dress appropriately.

What do I need to bring to the course?

Show the Content

You are encouraged to disconnect during the training.  You will be supplied with the course books and handouts.  You are welcome to take notes on the material directly or you may bring your electronic devices to take notes.

What happens if I have a meeting scheduled during the class hours?

Show the Content

We ask that all cell phones and email be completely turned off during class and that students use the numerous breaks and lunch to take care of any business.  If attendees need to leave class they are free to do so but we ask that they leave quietly and not disturb the class.

We highly recommend that attendees not do this for a number of reasons:

  • Miss information that is critical for the certification exams
  • The instructor will not spend class time reviewing anything they miss, so if material is dependent upon something they have missed it may be difficult for them to understand it
  • Additionally, the certificates are delivered at the end of the course

How do I find the address and directions to the location of the course?

Training is held at various locations in Midtown Manhattan.  All registered attendees will receive the training location details several weeks prior to the training from our Training Coordinator.

Where can I find a listing of the hotels in the area?

There is a wide range of hotel options at a range of prices all within walking distance all of the training locations that 280 Group uses.  If you want to limit your walk to 15 minutes, select a hotel within the combination of 15 blocks north-south (numbered Streets) and 6 blocks east-west (numbered and named Avenues).

Where is the nearest airport?

There are several airports nearby, and below you will find valuable information to assist with your planning.

  • LaGuardia Airport (LGA).  A taxi ride to most destinations in/near Midtown Manhattan is about $25, plus a $5.50 tunnel toll, depending on destination. Travel time is 30-45 minutes, depending on time of day.
  • Kennedy Airport (JFK) is also a good choice for Manhattan destinations.  Taxi fare to Manhattan is a flat rate $52, plus a $5.50 tunnel toll. Travel time is approximately 45 minutes or possibly more in rush hours.
  • From both airports, bus service is also available to Grand Central Terminal and some Midtown hotels.
  • Newark Airport (EWR) is not recommended because of the distance and travel time to/from Midtown Manhattan.

Should I rent a car?

A rental car is NOT recommended for class days. Driving in Midtown Manhattan traffic is a real challenge for most people, and daily parking can be very expensive.  (However, if you plan to extend your visit before or after the class, consider picking up a rental car at one of the airports, since rentals originating in Manhattan locations will generally be much more expensive than at the airports.) Public transportation has excellent coverage and frequent service in Midtown.

Depending on your expected use of bus or subway service, a $20 Metro card allows multiple rides and costs less than an individual ride fare.  Metrocards are sold at all subway stations from ATM-like machines.

Another public transit option is taxi.  Taxis are plentiful in Manhattan, except for rush hours or bad weather.

If you are an area resident, the training facility is a long walk or a short bus or subway ride from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, Penn Station, and Grand Central Terminal.
