Product Description

The Optimal Product Process (OPP) was built on the worldwide standard Association of International Product Marketing and Management Product Management Framework. OPP defines the lifecycle’s seven phases and corresponding tasks that every product or service encounters from concept to end-of-life.

Roles and responsibilities are defined for the key team members such as Product Manager, marketing, designers, and others. For example, the distinction of Product Management and Product Marketing is often a source of confusion. Commonly the two roles are defined as inbound or outbound. In OPP the two roles are more easily understood where responsibilities can be more clearly identified. Product Management is responsible for what the product will do, while Product Marketing owns what is said about the product.

Optimal Product Process Templates

Optimal Product Process Templates

OPP uses nine key documents corresponding to each phase in the Product Management lifecycle separated into five for strategy and four for execution. These key documents provide a foundation to ensure all critical product considerations are taken into account. OPP templates are available in the Product Management Lifecycle Toolkit.
